Members information

Membership

Membership starts from January 2013 until the end of December 2013. The new fee structure is on the application form.

All paid up members will be issued with a waterproof hard ID card containing their name and the membership year.  You will need to carry this with you on the canal as the Bailiff may wish to see it.   The permit enables you to use the Royal Military Canal from the centre to the dam at West Hythe. It is free to use the sea, but anyone normally using inland waters without a permit can be fined. Your annual membership card covers you for the year.

There will be keys in the club storage container for the toilet and the change rooms so that these facilities are available to members. Please note that if children are changing for coaching, according to health and safety regulations, please rather change in the toilet. Otherwise, do make use of the changing rooms.

  1. •Club paddling

Those of you that have your own canoe are obviously free to paddle any time you wish.

If you want to use centre boats or safety kit, you may paddle at the club during the warmer months, please contact the club co-ordinator on club@seapointcentre.com to discuss availability. New regulations insist that you only paddle if competent to do so. If you get into difficulty, the insurance doesn’t cover you unless you have had some basic coaching or are competent to paddle.

To help those members who are not competent in the water, coaching sessions will be offered to you at a discounted price. Even one session will enable you to feel more confident with using the canoe and kit and give you practise to help rescue yourself if ever in difficulty. I would encourage those of you who are not so confident, to make use of this offer because you will then enjoy your paddling more and be covered by the insurance. To book a session, call Rob on 07909517812.  Do let them know that you are a club member.

If you want to do coaching to get a qualification or do the tests, discounts apply to the  coaching fees apply, assessments are at centre prices.

We now have a range of clothing for sale, please see document below and send orders with payment to address above or return to centre.
